By using coaching, we are attempting to change behaviour. To do this, we focus on underlying values and beliefs.
To start with, we work on making you aware of your values and then on changing the beliefs that are standing in your way, the non-effective (or non-functional) beliefs. By using exercises and assignments, we encourage you to experiment and apply in practice what you have learned so that your development is demonstrated in practice. The aim is always to create an experience of success when using the new behavioural repertoire.
For coaching it is important that there is an equal and respectful relationship between the coach and the person being coached. There should be a situation of open and trusting contact; this is an essential prerequisite for a successful conclusion. Furthermore, we operate according to the professional code of the Dutch Association of Psychologists.
We start with your background, motives and motivation. Insecurity, obstructions experienced, undesirable routines, lack of self-control; whatever causes you problems and you are unable to get under control. Or perhaps you are simply not happy. Determining these issues in a concrete way is the first step.
Based on this we will define your goals. The goals for development that you indicate yourself, as the person being coached, are known as the prominent goals. In addition, you will be urged to dig deeper and carry out self-reflection. The goals resulting from this are called the latent goals; the more deeply-lying goals. it is important that the goals set can be realistically achieved. The ultimate goal is to perform better, based on your own empowerment and enjoying your work.
